TEXAS TRANSFER BIDS
Opener Responder
2NT 4D - asks opener to bid 4H
4H - asks opener to bid 4S
Opener has no option other than to bid game in the indicated suit,
no matter how good his hand.
If responder continues with a 4NT bid, that is Roman Key Card
Blackwood (RKCB), described in the book "Strong Bidding."
The Texas convention is used after a 3C overcall (when both 4D and
4H are jumps), but not after any higher overcall:
South West North
2NT 3D 4D - Stayman
3H/3S - forcing
4H/4S - sign-off, "fast arrival"
4C - Gerber
If responder follows up the forcing 3H or 3S response with a 4NT
bid, that is RKCB if the suit has been raised (implicitly or
explicitly), natural otherwise:
South West North East
2NT 3C 3S Pass
4C/4S Pass 4NT - RKCB
South West North East
2NT 3D 3H Pass
3NT Pass 4NT - natural, invitational
